ROY STEWART: THE STRADIVARI OF SURF BOARDS

The 17th century brought about major changes in philosophy and science with people such as the genius Isaac Newton, referred to as a natural philosopher; societies in previous centuries had no concept of the word ‘scientist’.

By the end of the 17th century, the world witnessed a scientific revolution. Science became an established mathematical, mechanical and empirical body of language.

Despite the new inventions of machinery that flourished, man’s quest for perfection and refinement to shape materials by hand could not be matched by machines.

A great example is Antonio Stradivari who created legendary bowed stringed instruments of the highest perfection: An ultimate luxury statement with the potential to create ecstasy of pleasure to a group of people if placed in the right hands. Even to this date his instruments are highly admired, valued and still played by the best professionals.

Times have changed since the 17th century and the numerous activities that we can get involved with are countless. What is rare are the individuals who break the barriers to establish new limits and, the truly gifted individuals that posses an unsurpassed talent to create the best tools or objects with their hands to make this possible.

These individuals clearly prove that the ultimate statements are created by us and not by machines. As a modern example of our times, HIGHER POETICS is honoured to present you the work of Roy Stewart.

Roy’s experience and profound understanding of the world that surrounds him is manifested as Surf Boards that everyone can enjoy and be stimulated in multiple ways.

  1. Generally the opposition get frustrated due to lack of funds in the cranial bank account.

I merely continue to correct the incorrect, as is my habit.

  2. Liam you are mistaken on every point.

Roy Stuart surfboards are highly efficient wave riding vehicles which have proven themselves to be light years ahead of the common longboard in performance. Their beauty is entirely due to form following function.

You claim to be quoting me as saying that they are art rather than functioning surfcraft but I have never said or written any such thing. Thus you are spreading lies and misinformation.

There’a a lot of anger and jealousy from the surf industry directed at these surfboards, your post is a prime example.

    Roy Stuart

  3. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT AND FOCUS ON THE IRONIES OF “MODERN LUXURY” AND VALUE.
WE ARE VERY INTERESTED TO SEE IF ROY’S BOARDS WILL RETAIN THEIR VALUE IN TIME OR NOT.
WE APPRECIATE AND ARE OPEN TO YOUR POINT OF VIEW AND YOUR THOUGHTS.

  4. It’s a shame that his boards have been universally disregarded by anyone who actually surfs as useless and dangerous pieces of rubbish. Stradavarius’ violins have been played by the greatest virtuosos over the years, whereas Roys boards have only ever been ridden by one or two pros, with almost universal criticism. Unfortunately, I assume this is just another part of his google spamming campaign in a sad and pathetic attempt to sell boards for half a million dollars to people who are incapable of suring them, thereby endangering themselves and others who have to share a break with someone woefully unable to control Roy’s ridiculous wooden juganauts. I’d seriously recommend that anyone who genuinely thinks about purchasing any of his products to thoroughly research every aspect of his designs and read a number of his own posts that show his inability to respond to criticisms that have been made – these are nothing more than an attempt to sell incredibly overpriced boards to the “ultra rich” (to quote Roy himself) as status items or pieces of art rather than functioning surfcraft, and when we really get down to it, there’s nothing here any cabinet maker couldn’t do.
